Ground technology was first introduced in order to prevent electricity or electronic equipment from thundering and lightning, aiming to lead the lightning current produced by lightning strike into the earth through lightning rod and thus protect the building. At the same time, grounding is also an effective tool to protect the personal safety, when for some reason the line (for example, bad wiring insulation, aging lines, and so on) touch the equipment shell, there will be dangerous voltage, and the generated fault current will flow through the PE line to the earth, which play a protective effect. With the development of digital and other electronic communications, only considering the anti-thunder and safety in ground system is far from enough to meet the requirements. For example, in communications system, a large number of signals interconnection between the facilities require each equipment to have a "base" as a reference for signals. With the complexity of electronic equipment, signal frequency is higher and higher, therefore, we should pay special attention to electromagnetic compatibility problems such as signal interference in grounding design, otherwise, improper grounding will seriously affect the operation of the system's reliability and stability. Recently, the return signal technology of high-speed signal is also introduced the "GND" concept. |
